How great was Mother's Day this year? I sent two, count 'em, two sets of roses to my mother this time. Once on the week before to announce my arrival, and once to arrive on Saturday at my hotel so I could bring them over. I'm going through some hard times at this part of my life. But I do not lose faith. If you lose faith, you're giving up, you're telling God that you just can't handle what He's handing you. My family was killed in a house fire a year ago to right now. I decided to commemorate this as a celebration of their lives and how their lives affected mine. My friends, family all came down for it, and I ordered what I consider to be the best flowers in the world -- not for myself, although I will enjoy them, but for my family. Too many times, I've found myself sitting at home on the computer instead of outside enjoying the landscape and the people. I've found that if I think about the people in my life back in the US that I want to keep in my life, I have more ability to meet new people and experience new things. That's the whole reason why I took this job, was to experience a different culture. I want to let you know that you help me doing that, even if that's a selfish reason for sending flowers, it helps me think of the people that I want to keep in my life for when I go back, whenever that might be. The "Burst of Joy" bouquet of flowers is really something. My aunt Leslie just about started laughing when she saw it because it's so big and bold and colorful. She fawned over it, even though we've never been close. I think she was impressed by the flowers more than the thought of it because at first she didn't recognize the name of the person who gave them to her (mine).
