My status as a second daughter in my family means that I am usually the left out one. I’m forced into the kitchen with my mother and aunties even though I have no idea how to cook. Although I have to say that my gift of flowers and balloons to the mistress of the house didn’t get me out of kitchen duty, it did get me some extra time with the men in the family as they were impressed I was able to spend so much on a deceptively gorgeous gift. Your flowers were just the pick me up that my sister-in-law needed. She's undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and there is a lot of time spent just trying to get through. People help, of course, but I think flowers help in a different way.
