The first time I ever received roses, I was still in high school. It was exciting and frightening all at the same time to get them from a boy. You know, I still get that same little twinge when my husband brings or sends me flowers. Don't take this the wrong way, but where he gets them from doesn't matter much to me. But I am writing to tell you that when I order flowers, I used to go with the absolute lowest price. But it just became too embarrassing for the recipient when inexpensive flowers came to mean cheap flowers. Now, I’ve learned to do it right and order flowers through you guys. I wasn’t familiar with the format of addresses in America, and I dashed off a panicky note to you earlier. The old codger will never admit it, but he appreciates the way they brighten up his dark, dank three-room cabin in the mountains. He gives me some song and dance about them being "good for the air quality" but I know he just likes them for how they look (kind of like he chose his last two wives... ahem...) I never would have guessed that one small gift of a houseplant would make such a difference in our relationship. I sent one of those little ferns to my wife, and she appreciated the gesture so much that she agreed to move back in. Is there a better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than with flowers? It's the quintessential red roses day, and I send them out to my girlfriend every year. Sadly it is not the same girlfriend every year, but maybe if I start to remember their birthdays it would make it easier. Valentine's Day is much easier to remember. It's always on the same day.
