The "Burst of Joy" bouquet of flowers is really something. My aunt Leslie just about started laughing when she saw it because it's so big and bold and colorful. She fawned over it, even though we've never been close. I think she was impressed by the flowers more than the thought of it because at first she didn't recognize the name of the person who gave them to her (mine). The way my family celebrates Christmas, you would think it was Festivus. My dad always tries to challenge someone to wrestle and we have a tinsel lined pole in the back yard that I used to practice tetherball on. I don't know if my parents have developed a sense of humor or we're all really warped. I'm glad I was able to bring some semblance of normalcy into Christmas, though, with the flowers that I sent ahead of time. I was in the USA recently, and I discovered the tradition of Thanksgiving. It's such a wonderful time to take the summer and autumn harvest and put it to good use for family that visits. I was interested to see how my American friends celebrated, and from what I understand, there is a turkey and potatoes and that's about what the similarities are between families. I like the idea of having a major holiday before Christmas that kind of celebrates autumn and all its colors. I was also impressed with the flowers. I understand that not everyone includes flowers as part of the holiday, but if my friends are any indication, everyone should have flowers. I would like to start a Thanksgiving celebration in my country, and I can start with turkey, potatoes, and autumn flowers.(Irina K., Tallinn )
