My wife and I are expecting a baby around the middle of June. Do I have to get her Mother's Day gift? That must sound a little stone-headed. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, right? Well, I'm writing this to tell you that For the past four gift-giving occasions - her birthday, our anniversary, Christmas, and Valentine's Day - I've given her flowers from your site, and I'm here to tell the tale. Flowers work. No matter how often you give them, she's perpetually grateful and appreciative. So I guess I've answered my own question.(Gerald P. , The Woodlands TX )

I surfed over to your website and thought it was a great idea. But I didn't order anything. I then went away for a while and then came back and then went away again. I don't exactly know what made me order from you the first time. I think it was how easy it was to order and send something anywhere. I didn't order from you for so long because I didn't know if it would be good idea or not. That was about a year and eight orders ago. I'm so glad I finally took the plunge because you have been great about everything.(Mark S., Camarillo CA )

The laws of Mother's Day state that flowers must be given or there will be heck to pay. I heed those laws by migrating myself over to your website every June 1, just to make sure that everything will get where it's supposed to be on-time. This year, I was a little late, but to my surprise everything turned out OK. No laws broken.(Abigail S. , Port Huron MI )

I liked the "White Garden" bowl so much that I almost hated to waste it on my in-laws on their anniversary. But if it makes me that happy to see it, I suppose it might help make the trip over there less stressful. Wish me luck!(Christine S., Atascadero CA )

My sister went through a caesarian recently, and your flowers were a great comfort to her in her recuperation. Though they were intended to be congratulations on the new baby (girl, Shawna, doing fine), they also were a wonderful soothing presence in her room recovering from her operation. Everyone's fine now, and thank you for being a part of that.(Laurie S., Richmond VA )

As a society, we tend to send flowers out of feelings of guilt for not being in a place we would normally be. Before the advent of automobiles and airplanes, we wouldn't stray too far from home (except in a few cases), and so we didn't have a need for sending gifts through the mail, or the Internet, or using FTD, or some other wire service. But we are products of our times, and because even nuclear families are so far flung, and because husbands and wives often live and work on different continents from one another, we have this need to send gifts to one anther in lieu of being there. What we're acknowledging is that we usually do what we can to make compromises between how we would like to live and how we would like to be close to one another. It's apparently socially acceptable to be apart like this as long as we can send each other things that remind us of this emotional connection even though there's no physical connection. ROCK ON, BROTHER!!!(Rey V. , Nagoya , Japan)

My younger brother has always felt like he was kind of the forgotten child in the family. He's the youngest of seven, and was the last to do everything. But he was the first to receive your flowers when I sent them to him for his birthday. It just made his day. He tried to be "cool" about it, but I could tell he was very pleased at having received such a great gift. Do you know how I knew for sure that he loved them? He's now sending your flowers to everyone else in our family. How's that for reading a man?(Wanda M., Napa CA )

I thank you for putting some joy into the life of one of my closest friends. Sadly, she passed away from cancer recently much too young. The flowers that were delivered to her hospice always brightened her day no matter what her mood was. I tried to visit with her as often as I could, but busy lives often get in the way of such relationships. The flowers she received had no such problems, though. She often said that it was as if I were there, and she would talk to the flowers as if they were me. I say thank you again for putting some life into her death and for giving everyone involved with her, including herself, some respite from the suffering.(Gwendolyn S. , Adelaide , Australia)
