I was a doubter at first, but all my doubts were dispelled this last Christmas, when I hesitantly made a huge order (over $1000) of flower displays, arrangements, and bouquets for the company Christmas party. It's a small company, so I wasn't sure if it would just add to the frivolity of the occasion or if it would be worth it in terms of employee cohesion. Well, it turned out to be both. For the first time in nine years, we did not have any turnover the first six months of the year following the Christmas party. I don't know if it was because we were throwing lousy parties before, or if it was a coincidence or what. The wonder of flowers! My neighbor and I had been feuding for months, ever since my sycamore allegedly dropped all of its leaves onto their vegetable garden. The flowers I sent to my son and daughter-in-law for a congratulations on purchasing a new house actually got there. I mistakenly sent them to the new house address without thinking about escrow and even move-in time.
