The flowers I sent to my son and daughter-in-law for a congratulations on purchasing a new house actually got there. I mistakenly sent them to the new house address without thinking about escrow and even move-in time. I couldn't be there in person because I'm overseas, so I had to suffer through a night of thinking, "what did I forget?" It didn't hit me until my son called to say they were very appreciative of the flowers I sent. It was then that I remembered giving the wrong address on the form, and I became more confused because they actually got delivered to the right place. I'm bursting with pride at my kids being able to afford houses and I'm also red in the face because I can't even figure out where they are now! Flowers are so much more tactile and have more substance than cards or electronic messages, like they are stand-ins for you. Valentine's Day has special significance in our house because it was the day that we closed escrow six years ago. It was a very trying time, trying to sell a house and buy a house at the same time. My mother brought us a unique combination of roses and lilies that I hadn't remembered seeing before. It was so special for us and for her. She's no longer with us, but my husband now has taken over sending flowers to me from work: roses and lilies in the same flower arrangement. It was the first gift to arrive and it was waiting for me in the room when we all got back. I am writing this on a palm computer in the hospital. I wanted to indicate my appreciation to you, and I am also feigning being busy with something while my mother-in-law is trying to talk to me about the correct raising of my child. I've been dreading this moment, but she's the one who sent the orchid, so I guess I'll eventually have to sit through this lecture. Thank you for being a purveyor of beautiful things. My great-grandmother’s funeral was much more sober than any other funeral I’ve been to (to many of them), and I couldn’t figure out why. Finally, it dawned on me, the flowers were wholly inappropriate for the setting. They were the whole color, the wrong style, and too ostentatious for the scene. I found out that the person in our family who normally orders the flowers (from you) had asked someone else to do it this time, and he ordered from someone else. While I don’t blame this other company entirely for the inappropriateness of the flowers - because he’s pretty much a dullard about these things - I am positive that had he ordered from you things would have been different.(Ellie O. , Lewiston ME )
