How great was Mother's Day this year? I sent two, count 'em, two sets of roses to my mother this time. Once on the week before to announce my arrival, and once to arrive on Saturday at my hotel so I could bring them over. I can't remember the last time a gift was delivered so smoothly. Maybe it's the fact that it doesn't need to be wrapped in order to feel like a gift. Or maybe it's the fact that you can match the person to the type and color of flowers, giving it the air of personalization, but still essentially be flowers. And doesn't everyone like flowers? My best day this year was seeing the look on my five-year-old's face when she saw the giant package of flowers that my father sent to her on her first day of kindergarten. The first time I ever received roses, I was still in high school. It was exciting and frightening all at the same time to get them from a boy. You know, I still get that same little twinge when my husband brings or sends me flowers. Don't take this the wrong way, but where he gets them from doesn't matter much to me.
