I think it's because it's one day where we can forget about things like de-icing the driveway and block heaters and shoveling the sidewalk. Valentine's Day has special significance in our house because it was the day that we closed escrow six years ago. It was a very trying time, trying to sell a house and buy a house at the same time. She's no longer with us, but my husband now has taken over sending flowers to me from work: roses and lilies in the same flower arrangement. Back in the 1980s, there was a flower delivery service associated with a department store that has since been swallowed up by a larger company. I think that flower delivery company was the only one that could match yours in terms of quality, price, and promptness. Of course, they’re gone now, but you’re still here.
