I've always been ambivalent about Valentine's Day, mostly because nothing ever happened. It's only recently that I've been in a serious relationship that has lasted through Valentine's Day, so maybe that has something to do with it. In any event, this last Valentine's, I was actually in a relationship, so I wondered what would happen. Societal attitudes, I guess. I got her some candy, and she got me some flowers. But not just any flowers. They were these eye-popping spring flowers with full fragrance and very pretty. Of course, they were your flowers, which is why I'm writing to you. There are very few non-Saudis left in this city, but there are some. But still, it's amazing that I can send actual florist type flowers to my husband back home. I have to find good reasons to stay here every day, but there's a lot to be done, so I feel like it's my calling. I hope the flowers I send helps to make the space between us a little smaller.
