My mother visited for a short time last spring, and she noticed something completely new, for her anyway. She noticed that there was this celebration called Mother's Day that everyone takes so seriously. Now she demands that she be treated like an American mother and have flowers and cards and calls and gifts sent to her. All this so she can say that her daughters in America recognize that she is an American mother by proxy or something. There was a small gathering of our book club where we discussed good places to send flowers from, and that's where I heard your name. It kind of exploded from there because we all started sending your flowers to our friends and telling them about it. I don’t know who else to tell, so I’ll tell you. Our son was killed in Iraq this past year. The conflicting emotions I feel about this are unbearable. We were so distraught that we left most of the arrangements to my brother. He had the good sense to order the flower stands from you. which I never would have thought made a difference. My brother has never been one to display heartfelt emotion, but I felt it when those flowers were next to my son’s civilian coffin at the funeral home. I started using you for flowers and gifts when I was in the U.S. Now that I'm overseas, I'm glad that I can still use you for the same things. It's almost as if I never left, except people speak a foreign language here. I guess I'm the one speaking a foreign language here, but you get the idea.
