I had screwed up every anniversary gift since we were married. Last year, I got my wife what she asked for... in the wrong size. That was a disaster. I thought flowers would be the safe choice this year. You know, nothing ostentatious or gaudy, just something small to say how much I appreciated being married to this wonderful woman. I'm very appreciative that your phone operator took the time to help me choose a bouquet. I didn't think it would get much of a reaction other than not letting me screw up another gift. But I got the warmest reception from a present that I ever got from her. I guess that wasn't too hard, since my other gifts really stunk it up, but I'm appreciative that you took the time to hold my hand through the process to get something really great. The first time I ever received roses, I was still in high school. It was exciting and frightening all at the same time to get them from a boy. Valentine's Day has special significance in our house because it was the day that we closed escrow six years ago. It was a very trying time, trying to sell a house and buy a house at the same time. My mother brought us a unique combination of roses and lilies that I hadn't remembered seeing before. It was so special for us and for her.
