The old codger will never admit it, but he appreciates the way they brighten up his dark, dank three-room cabin in the mountains. He gives me some song and dance about them being "good for the air quality" but I know he just likes them for how they look (kind of like he chose his last two wives... ahem...) The wonder of flowers! My neighbor and I had been feuding for months, ever since my sycamore allegedly dropped all of its leaves onto their vegetable garden. It escalated from there, and one point the common fence was on fire. (Don't ask.) Anyway, my wife of all people, sent them flowers and then boom, it was over.
