The "Burst of Joy" bouquet of flowers is really something. My aunt Leslie just about started laughing when she saw it because it's so big and bold and colorful. She fawned over it, even though we've never been close. I think she was impressed by the flowers more than the thought of it because at first she didn't recognize the name of the person who gave them to her (mine). She noticed that there was this celebration called Mother's Day that everyone takes so seriously. Now she demands that she be treated like an American mother and have flowers and cards and calls and gifts sent to her. All this so she can say that her daughters in America recognize that she is an American mother by proxy or something. This is a strange story, I know, but I had to get flowers not just to an address, but to a specific location within that address. Worst of all, it wasn't marked anywhere. My cousin is a stand-up comedian, and the flowers for him were for his first steady gig in L.A. They had to be right off-stage behind the curtain so as he came off, the flowers would be presented to him in his hands. My God, I can't believe they were there at just the right time. I was nervous as a cockroach at a tap-dance contest, but everything worked out OK.
