As a society, we tend to send flowers out of feelings of guilt for not being in a place we would normally be. It's apparently socially acceptable to be apart like this as long as we can send each other things that remind us of this emotional connection even though there's no physical connection. My fiancee and his friends, for some odd reason, decided to take a cross-country trip to California and back.
