I'd like to think that I was making my daughter happy when I sent flowers to her on her first day at college, but I really suspected that she was embarrassed by her mother in front of her dorm-mates. It was a little of both, I guess. She called to say that she really enjoyed them, but she asked if it was OK that she told everyone they were from her boyfriend. *sigh* There's only so much a mother can do. Thanks for giving some comfort to the family of my friend, now in the hospital. Her father took a turn for the worse and they had to go back again. I like that you have a world-wide reach with your delivery services. Being hooked into FTD couldn't hurt with that, right? I work with people all over the world, so it's important that I get whatever to wherever. If that means going with a different package delivery company than I use for domestic because it's more convenient, then fine. But I find that I don't do that with the gifts that I send, normally flowers. I notice that I use you folks wherever I need to send something. I guess I fell into the habit when I realized that you have handled every order I've ever thrown at you with grace and capability. This is a strange story, I know, but I had to get flowers not just to an address, but to a specific location within that address. Worst of all, it wasn't marked anywhere. My cousin is a stand-up comedian, and the flowers for him were for his first steady gig in L.A. They had to be right off-stage behind the curtain so as he came off, the flowers would be presented to him in his hands. My God, I can't believe they were there at just the right time. I was nervous as a cockroach at a tap-dance contest, but everything worked out OK. My cousin killed the audience, got the flowers, and then called me almost out of breath and with tears in his eyes (so he said). Thanks so much.(Trish N., Rochester MN )

The way my family celebrates Christmas, you would think it was Festivus. My dad always tries to challenge someone to wrestle and we have a tinsel lined pole in the back yard that I used to practice tetherball on. I don't know if my parents have developed a sense of humor or we're all really warped. I'm glad I was able to bring some semblance of normalcy into Christmas, though, with the flowers that I sent ahead of time.
